Haiti is the most populous country and one of the most open economies in the Caribbean. It is the quintessential virgin economy with many untapped industries lying underdeveloped. Although the business environment is challenging, Haiti’s legislation encourages foreign direct investment and the Haitian investment code provides the same rights and protection to both local and foreign companies.
With a more mature economy, Honduras stands to offer Haiti a multitude of benefits in industries such as: engineering services, apparel assembly, consumer goods exportation, and employment opportunities for Hondurans in Haiti.
