FICAC the World Federation of Consuls had their 1st Latin America Regional Conference, at Honduras, San Pedro Sula, from August 31st -September 3rd 2023.
The Conference was organized by the Consular Corps Association of San Pedro Sula (ACCS), and was attended by Her Excellency Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento, the President of the Republic of Honduras, His Excellency Eduardo Enrique Reina, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and other Honduran dignitaries.
The World Federation of Consuls (FICAC), the Consular Corps Association of San Pedro Sula (ACCS) together with members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Honduras, members of the Boards of Directors of FICAC and ACCS, honorable consuls who are participating in the Conference and their spouses, visited numerous places, held workshops & presentations.
Within the itinerary many notable events included :
- Peace and Prosperity Tree Planting Ceremony at the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Cortes (CCIC)
- Main Conference “Strengthening Diplomatic Relations for the Growth of Latin America” attended by Her Excellency Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento, the President of the Republic of Honduras, and His Excellency Eduardo Enrique Reina, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. During this event the FICAC Gold Star was presented to H.E. Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento, in recognition of being the first woman to be elected as President of Honduras and her life achievements as a leader for women’s rights, social development, environmental conservancy and her invaluable support to the honorary consuls in Honduras.
- A visit to the The Emmanuel children’s home and presentation of a donation as a gesture of solidarity
- A visit to Integrar Foundation for Children with Down Syndrome to show support and solidarity with this noble cause.
World Federation of Consuls
FICAC was established in Copenhagen in October 1982. It was born of the necessity to bring together Consular Associations or Corps from all over the world and to share experience, and co-ordinate efforts to enhance the status and effectiveness of the Consul, the oldest institution serving International bilateral relations.
FICAC is a global network of Consular Associations created to support and improve the status, legitimacy and effectiveness of all consular officers in all receiving States.
FICAC’s aims are to promote and strengthen mutual understanding between Honorary Consuls and Career Consuls worldwide; develop a framework and basis for exchange of current information, ideas and suggestions regarding matters related to the office of Honorary Consuls and Career Consuls; promote at national level and international for a better understanding of duties and responsibilities, rights and privileges of Honorary Consuls and Career Consuls.
The World Federation of Consuls has United Nations recognition as an NGO with ECOSOC Status. It is recognized as an NGO by the Organization of American States. It is also recognized as an NGO at the European Union
